The Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme has now been withdrawn but was a scheme provided to the Armed Forces by the HCA (Home and Communities Agency). The principal of the scheme works in the same way as Help to Buy, First Buy and Home Buy where a percentage of the deposit is lent the home owner as a contribution to the gross purchase price of the property being considered.
This particular scheme did allow for more flexibility in particular to areas of subletting or moving away from base but the principals of selling remain the same as the other schemes whereby you are required to have an RICS registered valuer from a regulated firm of chartered surveyors to carry out an independent market valuation. The principals of valuation and the guidance follow the same as Help to Buy valuations and indeed the recommendations for repayment are detailed within our website.
